Greenwood & Boundary morning check: smoke warning drops to yellow, Spraggett Road closes, and nearby fire map entries improve
Thursday’s official-source pull is a little better on smoke and nearby wildfire status, but it adds a practical local road item. Grand Forks and Rock Creek now show a yellow air-quality warning, down from the orange warning in the last published Daily Watch pull. The forecast still calls for local smoke this morning, a 30 percent chance of showers this afternoon and evening, and a risk of thunderstorms.
The most reader-useful road change is Spraggett Road: DriveBC lists utility work starting Thursday, August 13, with the road closed between Carson Road and Almond Gardens Road West until September 30. The Highway 3 utility-work item about 23 km from Greenwood remains listed through September 18 with single-lane alternating traffic and a 60 km/h speed restriction.
On the DriveBC / BC Wildfire map feed, N61319 remains the closest out-of-control point found in the pull, about 41.7 km from Greenwood and still listed at 50 ha. Two nearby entries improved in the map feed: N61520 is now Under Control at about 44.0 km, and K51522 is now Under Control at about 71.7 km. A larger wildfire-of-note entry, Bald Range / K51490, appears near the edge of the expanded 100 km context pull, about 99.7 km away; that is regional smoke/travel context, not a Greenwood evacuation notice.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found in the DriveBC emergency-alert API or the EmergencyInfoBC text pull this morning.
