Greenwood & Boundary morning check: air-quality warning continues; two new wildfire map points appear
Sunday’s official-source pull keeps smoke and wildfire-map monitoring at the top of the Greenwood and Boundary watch list. The DriveBC regional weather feed for Grand Forks and Rock Creek still shows a YELLOW WARNING - AIR QUALITY event, now issued Sunday morning. The forecast is cooler than Saturday, but still calls for local smoke, west wind gusting to 40 km/h near noon, and widespread smoke again on Monday.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found in the DriveBC emergency-alert API or the EmergencyInfoBC text pull this morning. Nearby wildfire records below are map-layer monitoring points; they are not evacuation notices and should not be treated as instructions by themselves.
What changed since Saturday
- Weather: the air-quality warning remains active for both Grand Forks and Rock Creek. Today’s forecast calls for sun becoming mixed cloud near noon, local smoke, west wind 20 km/h gusting to 40, high 24 C and UV index 6/high. Monday’s forecast adds widespread smoke with a high near 28 C.
- New wildfire-map points: two August 2 entries appeared in the under-90 km DriveBC / BC Wildfire layer: N61385, about 46.1 km from Greenwood and marked Out of Control, and N61387, about 52.8 km away and marked Out of Control. Neither was marked as a wildfire of note in the API response.
- Continuing closest watch point: N61319 remains the closest out-of-control map-layer point found in this pull, about 41.8 km from Greenwood and not marked as a wildfire of note.
- Improvement signals: N51161 changed from Out of Control on Saturday to Being Held about 59.9 km away. N61304 remains Being Held about 55.7 km away, and N61170 remains Under Control about 55.2 km away. Saturday’s N61218 entry was no longer returned in this morning’s under-90 km set, so Ledge is treating that as a map-feed/status change rather than a standalone final incident report.
