Greenwood & Boundary morning check: air-quality warning clears, smoke remains; wildfire map changes continue
Monday’s official-source pull brings one improvement and one continuing caution for Greenwood and the Boundary. The DriveBC regional weather feed for Grand Forks and Rock Creek no longer shows an active air-quality warning object, after Sunday’s warning. The same feed still forecasts local smoke today and tonight, then hazy conditions on Tuesday, so the smoke watch is not over.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found in the DriveBC emergency-alert API or the EmergencyInfoBC text pull this morning. Nearby wildfire records below are map-layer monitoring points; they are not evacuation notices and should not be treated as instructions by themselves.
What changed since Sunday
- Weather: the Grand Forks and Rock Creek warning fields are clear again. Today’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud clearing near noon, local smoke, northwest wind 20 km/h near noon, high 28 C and UV index 6/high. Tonight remains clear with local smoke; Tuesday is sunny and hazy, high near 30 C.
- Wildfire map: a new August 2 map-layer point, N61413, appears about 45.3 km from Greenwood and is marked Out of Control. N61411 also appears about 41.5 km away and is marked Being Held. Neither is marked as a wildfire of note in the API response.
- Continuing closest out-of-control points: N61319 remains out of control about 41.8 km from Greenwood, and N61387 remains out of control about 52.8 km away. These remain watch-list items only, not evacuation notices.
- Improvement signals: N61385 changed from Out of Control on Sunday to Under Control about 46.1 km away. N51353 changed from Out of Control to Being Held about 58.8 km away. Several other nearby entries remain Under Control or Being Held.
