Greenwood & Boundary morning check: air-quality warning rises to orange as smoke stays widespread
Saturday’s official-source pull keeps smoke on the front page. The DriveBC / Environment Canada regional weather feed now shows an orange air-quality warning for both Grand Forks and Rock Creek, up from Friday’s yellow warning. The forecast calls for widespread smoke today, tonight and Sunday, with a high near 30 C and southwest wind becoming 20 km/h this afternoon.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found in the DriveBC emergency-alert API or the EmergencyInfoBC text pull this morning. EmergencyInfoBC does list wildfire evacuation information elsewhere in B.C., including Central Okanagan / Okanagan-Similkameen material; that is important regional context, but it is not a Greenwood, Midway, Grand Forks, Rock Creek, Christina Lake or Boundary evacuation notice.
What changed since Friday
- Weather: the warning field rose from YELLOW WARNING - AIR QUALITY to ORANGE WARNING - AIR QUALITY for both Grand Forks and Rock Creek. Widespread smoke remains in the Saturday, Saturday-night and Sunday forecast periods.
- Wildfire map: the under-90 km set was stable compared with Friday morning. N61319 remains the closest Out of Control map point found, about 41.6 km from Greenwood and listed at 29.69 ha. N61201 remains Out of Control about 67.8 km from Greenwood and listed at 8.5 ha. The other nearby checked entries remained Under Control. - Emergency notices: the DriveBC emergency-alert API returned an empty list. The EmergencyInfoBC homepage listed current wildfire emergency pages elsewhere in B.C.; the morning text pull did not find a local Boundary-region evacuation order or alert.
- Regional road context: a new Highway 97 wildfire closure near Peachland appeared in the broader DriveBC pull about 86 km from Greenwood. That is not a Highway 3 / Greenwood-local closure, but it is useful regional wildfire-travel context for residents watching smoke and Okanagan travel.
