Greenwood & Boundary morning check: no Boundary evacuation notice, but local smoke and nearby wildfire entries remain
Monday’s official-source check did not find a Boundary evacuation order or alert on EmergencyInfoBC, and the DriveBC/Environment Canada regional weather feed did not list an active warning for Grand Forks at the time checked. It did, however, keep local smoke in the Grand Forks forecast, with a high of 31 C and a very high UV index.
The DriveBC/BC Wildfire map layer still needs watching around Greenwood: the closest listed entry was about 12.5 km from Greenwood and marked Under Control, while a July 19 entry roughly 53 km away was marked Out of Control. These are map-layer entries, not evacuation notices. Residents should continue to rely on BC Wildfire Service, EmergencyInfoBC and RDKB for instructions if conditions change.
What changed since Sunday
- Weather: Sunday’s air-quality warning language was not present in the Grand Forks DriveBC/Environment Canada regional feed at 6:31 a.m. PDT; the current forecast says increasing cloudiness, local smoke, high 31 C and UV index 9 or very high.
- Wildfire map: the DriveBC/BC Wildfire layer listed multiple entries within roughly 75 km of Greenwood. The nearest entry, N60934, was marked Under Control; N51038, reported July 19, was marked Out of Control roughly 53 km away. None of the nearby entries checked were marked wildfire of note in the DriveBC layer.
- Emergency notices: EmergencyInfoBC showed active items elsewhere in B.C. including Kimberley/St. Mary Lake and North/Central Coast heat items, but no Boundary-region evacuation notice was found in the morning homepage pull.
Roads and civic notices
- Highway 3: no DriveBC closure was found for Greenwood, Midway, Grand Forks, Rock Creek or Christina Lake in the morning pull. One ongoing Highway 3 paving item remains east of Christina Lake between Paulson Bridge and Paulson Cross Country Recsite, with single-lane alternating traffic listed until July 30.
- Greenwood water: City of Greenwood Stage 2 water restrictions remain posted, including even-numbered address watering on Tuesdays/Saturdays and odd-numbered address watering on Wednesdays/Sundays.
- Fire restrictions: the City and Southeast Fire Centre pages continue to post Category 2 and Category 3 open-fire prohibitions for the area. Category 1 campfires were still shown as permitted by the Southeast Fire Centre page checked, but local conditions remain dry and local government rules still apply.
- City Hall: the City’s newest news item remains the July 18 call for casual election officials for the October local election schedule, with applications listed as open until August 28.

Founders Day has moved from preview to follow-up: Ledge still needs organizer photos, parade notes, volunteer names, attendance colour, business impacts and any smoke or road notes from Saturday.
The Greenwood fire-department leadership question remains a community lead only. Automated checks could open City pages and Facebook page shells, but did not verify a named official statement.
