Wednesday’s official-source pull keeps smoke, fire restrictions and wildfire-map context at the top of the Greenwood front page. The Grand Forks and Rock Creek DriveBC/Environment Canada regional feed shows a yellow air-quality warning issued Wednesday July 29 at 08:39 UTC, with local smoke, a high near 33 C, UV index 7 or high, and southwest wind gusts to 40 km/h forecast today.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found on EmergencyInfoBC or in the DriveBC emergency-alert API this morning. Nearby wildfire records below are map-layer monitoring points; they are not evacuation notices and should not be treated as instructions by themselves.
What changed since Tuesday
- Weather: the air-quality warning remains active for Grand Forks and Rock Creek and was reissued Wednesday morning UTC. Today’s forecast says sunny with local smoke, high 33 C, and wind becoming southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. Thursday’s forecast again shows sunny conditions with local smoke and southwest gusts to 40.
- Closest wildfire map entries: in the current under-80 km DriveBC / BC Wildfire pull, the closest checked points to Greenwood are now N61150 about 35.5 km away, N61067 about 36.6 km away, N61179 about 36.9 km away and N61216 about 37.1 km away. All four are marked Under Control.
- Status improvement: N61216, which was Being Held in Tuesday’s brief, is now marked Under Control. N61210 and N61222 remain Under Control.
- Continuing watch items: N61218 remains Out of Control about 45.6 km away. N61278 and N61281, both reported July 27, remain Out of Control about 49 to 50 km away. - Highway 3 / Paulson: DriveBC still lists paving between Paulson Bridge and Paulson Cross Country Recsite, about 46 km from Greenwood, with single-lane alternating traffic until July 30.
- Other regional roads: the automated pull also returned Osoyoos-area Highway 3 maintenance through July 30, Trail / Highway 3B bridge maintenance through July 29, and a Highway 1 wildfire closure far outside the Boundary that points travellers to Highway 3 or Highway 5 as alternate routes. No new Greenwood-local Highway 3 closure was verified.
- Fire rules: the City of Greenwood all-open-burning prohibition remains posted and in effect. The B.C.
