Greenwood & Boundary morning check: air-quality warning lifted, smoke and wildfire-map watch continue
Friday’s official-source pull shows one improvement and one continuing caution for Greenwood and the Boundary. The Grand Forks and Rock Creek DriveBC regional weather feed no longer shows an active warning object, after Thursday’s air-quality warning. The same feed still forecasts widespread smoke today, a high near 32 C, UV index 8 or very high, and southeast wind to 20 km/h this afternoon.
No official Boundary-region evacuation order or alert was found on EmergencyInfoBC or in the DriveBC emergency-alert API this morning. Nearby wildfire records below are map-layer monitoring points; they are not evacuation notices and should not be treated as instructions by themselves.
What changed since Thursday
- Weather: the warning field for both Grand Forks and Rock Creek is now clear in the DriveBC regional feed. Smoke remains in the forecast: widespread smoke today and tonight, then local smoke Saturday with a 30 percent chance of late-afternoon showers, thunderstorm risk, southwest wind 30 km/h gusting to 60 near noon, high 30 C and UV index 8 or very high.
- Wildfire map: N61319 remains the closest out-of-control map-layer point found in this pull, about 41.8 km from Greenwood and still not marked as a wildfire of note. The closest entry overall is N61067 about 36.6 km away and Under Control.
- Map-layer cleanup: several entries that appeared in Thursday’s under-90 km pull, including N61179, N61216 and K51313, were no longer returned by this morning’s DriveBC / BC Wildfire layer. Ledge is treating that as a map-feed change, not as a standalone final incident report.
- Continuing watch items: N61304 remains Out of Control about 55.7 km away; N51161 remains Out of Control about 59.9 km away and listed at 4.6 ha; N61201 remains Out of Control about 67.8 km away and listed at 6.1 ha. None of the nearest checked entries were marked wildfire of note in the API response.
- Emergency notices: the DriveBC emergency-alert API returned an empty list. EmergencyInfoBC listed current wildfire evacuation information elsewhere in B.C.; the morning text pull did not find Greenwood, Midway, Grand Forks, Rock Creek, Christina Lake or Boundary.

- Roads: the prior Highway 3 / Paulson paving item that ran through July 30 was not in the nearest active-event set this morning. The closest relevant DriveBC items returned were Rossland / Highway 3B work about 56 km away, Highway 22 Junction West to Highway 3 Junction West work, and Highway 3 Osoyoos/Nighthawk Road maintenance. No new Greenwood-local Highway 3 closure was verified.
