The public-interest question
Fire service is a core local service. If there has been a leadership change, residents should know who is acting in the role, whether coverage is affected, what council has been told, and what support volunteers need.
Developing community lead · July 16, 2026
Ledge has received a community lead that residents are asking questions about leadership at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department. We have not yet verified an official resignation notice, so this brief is a request for confirmation, documents and community context — not a final claim.

Has there been a resignation or change in fire department leadership? When did it happen? Who is currently responsible? Were there safety, staffing, budget, training, inspection or governance issues involved? What should residents know?
Greenwood depends on volunteer and local emergency services. Fire inspection, wildfire season, response readiness and public confidence all depend on clear communication. A rumour should not become a published fact without verification — but unanswered questions should not be ignored either.
Ledge checked public web search results, City of Greenwood public pages and the public Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page. Facebook currently requires login before showing page content through our automated check. We are therefore asking for named tips, screenshots, meeting references, official notices or documents that can be verified.
